The idea is to offer industry, authorities and certification organizations a procedure for evaluating the percentage of hazardous substances of components and materials used in electrical products. 03 March 2008 Mandatory PAHs testing for the GS – certification process The new specification will be mandatory for all GS-Certification Bodies starting from 1st April 2008. Products which are already GS certified have to be tested on PAHs until 1st April 2009 to keep validity.

01 February 2006 Intertek ETL SEMKO and Natlabs cooperate in Finland The ETL SEMKO division of Intertek Group plc (LSE: ITRK), a global leader in testing, inspection and certification, announces at the Electricity Telecom Lighting 2006 Fair in Jyväskylä, Finland, the signing of an agreement with Natlabs, a local testing and certification laboratory in Finland. Through the partnership Natlabs and Intertek ETL SEMKO jointly offer global services for manufacturers in Finland. 26 January 2006 Intertek acquires AKZO Nobel’s Electro Magnetic Compatibility Business in Japan Intertek, the global testing, inspection and certification company, announces the signing of an agreement to acquire the Electro Magnetic Compatibility (EMC) business of AKZO Nobel in Japan for €13 million in cash. 02 November 2004 Intertek Group plc announces new CEO The Board of Intertek Group plc announces the appointment of Dr Wolfhart Hauser (54) as Chief Executive Officer of the Group, with effect from March 2005. Dr Hauser has been a non-executive director on the Intertek Board since October 2002 and has also worked as a consultant helping to develop the strategy of the business. 09 September 2004 Intertek ETL SEMKO signs agreement with German Moeller Group Intertek ETL SEMKO's solid expertise in the Chinese market, its requirements as well as the company's global network and the membership of LOVAG (the Low Voltage Agreement Group) were decisive factors for the German Moeller Group's choice of partner. The agreement concerns testing of products in collaboration with Intertek ETL SEMKO in Moeller's testing laboratory, the Institute for International Product Safety, in Bonn, Germany.
16 June 2004 Customer in focus for the new managing director of Intertek Semko Michael Staufeldt has been appointed managing director of Intertek Semko AB. Michael succeeds Gösta Fredriksson who became chairman of the IECEE certification committee on the 1st of January this year. Increasing focus on the customer and following the customers in their internationalisation processes are the first challenges the new company manager will need to meet. 07 April 2004 Intertek has signed an SMTA agreement with Louis Poulsen Louis Poulsen Lighting A/S have just introduced simplified procedures for electrical safety testing and certification. Henceforth, under an SMTA agreement with industry leading testing house Intertek (of which SEMKO is now a part), Louis Poulsen will test their products in their own laboratories instead of sending them out to a testing house. By saving duplicated effort, the simplified procedure will save the manufacturer time and money. 26 August 2003 Intertek´s Gösta Fredriksson appointed chairman of IECEE The ETL SEMKO division of Intertek Group, plc. (LSE: ITRK), a global leader in testing, inspection and certification services, announced today that Intertek’s Gösta Fredriksson was elected as chairman of the IECEE (Worldwide System for Conformity Testing and Certification of Electrical Equipment) Certification Management Committee (CMC). With Intertek, Fredriksson serves as president of ETL SEMKO Europe, Middle East and Africa.
